I grew up in Virginia and went to college at Wesleyan, where I graduated Phi Beta Kappa in English and American Studies. I’ve worked as a trail maintenance crew person in the Rockies, a Ph.D. student at Brown, a temp on Wall Street, a copy editor at a newspaper in Mexico City, a magazine editor in New York, a technical editor at Microsoft, a barista, an estate caretaker in Santa Fe, a location scout in San Francisco, a limo driver in Los Angeles, a substitute teacher, and a gallery salesperson in Santa Fe and Boston. I’ve been on backpacking trips to Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Western Europe, Greece, Romania, Turkey, Japan, Thailand, Vietnam, and Cambodia. Currently I live outside Boston and make a living as a ghostwriter for a consulting company.

In addition to obtaining an MFA from the University of Washington, I’ve attended writers conferences at Wesleyan, the Community of Writers, Sarah Lawrence, and Bread Loaf. For fun, I go on adventures with my son, play standards on the piano, and row on my rowing machine.
